The Orange Alabaster Mushroom is really a one-man band project by Ottawa, Ontario-based singer/songwriter Greg Watson. While an associate from the Fiends (not really the LA punk group, but several Ottawa-based garage area rockers), Watson started recording his personal, more psychedelically affected solo materials in early 1991. Although Watson continuing his house recordings for several years and also placed several on obscure psych compilations, the very first Orange Alabaster Mushroom launch was a four-track EP, The Psychedelic Bedroom, in 1996. That EP, including the theme music/declaration of intention “WE HAVE BEEN the Orange Alabaster Mushroom,” wasn’t adopted up for pretty much three years, before solitary “The Slug,” supported with “Ethel Tripped a Mean Gloss,” made an appearance in 1999. The limited-edition LP compilation Space and Period: A Compendium from the Orange Alabaster Mushroom premiered by Earworm Information in 2000. Hidden Plan reissued Space and Amount of time in Oct 2001 with three brand-new previously unreleased monitors.
