Ophiuchus

A folk rock and roll group from Wiltshire, Britain, formed in 1986 by guitarist Jon Cousins and saxophonist Pat D’Arcy. The music group had a number of users that included Xavier Tutein and Simon Cousins (bass), Pete Causer (melodeon), Myke Vince and Ed Grimshaw (drums), Mike Badger (percussion), and Glenn Wardle (dulcimer). Frequently whimsical and certainly literate, Ophiuchus produced ‘rural English rock and roll’ from rustic isolation and may well have gained the label ‘crusty’ prior to the Levellers. They released the dual a-side, ‘Serpent AS WELL AS THE Bearded Ruler’/‘Track For Pym’ independently label, Ophiuchvs Recordvs, and an recording on Liverpool’s Probe Plus label. Ophiuchus disbanded in 1990.
