Ophelia Rising

Vocalist Lexa “Ophelia” Vonn describes Ophelia Growing best: “Our audio may be the Go-Go’s matches Marilyn Manson and our imagery is Kenneth Anger matches Russ Meyer.” The music group holds up to the self-portrait by merging punk intensity; metallic riffs; and dark, erotic, gothic overtones. Ophelia Rising’s origins are in Boston, MA, where in 1994 founding member Lexa, after that high school college student Yvonne Nicoletti, was caught within an anti-censorship protest defending the artwork of White colored Zombie. Rob Zombie, commenting on Lexa’s case, stated, “I believed they stopped burning up witches in Massachusetts in the past. That is another traditional case of the outdated school program seeking to break the nature of a smart, free thinking college student.” Following the American Civil Liberties Union battled on her behalf in a courtroom of law, protecting a dismissal of the case, Lexa loaded her hand bags for LA to pursue a profession in rock and roll & move. In LA, Lexa go-go danced for the Mentors, self-published her publication Girl’s Guidebook to Hitchhiking, and also worked as an individual associate for KRS-One. In 2000, she made an appearance as Ophelia Increasing with Abominable Identification within the Dwell Information Marilyn Manson tribute, Anthems of Corrosion and Decay. In 2001, Lexa recruited tempo guitarist Echo Major depression, bassist Isis Kano, guitarist Satania heraManic, and drummer Kitty for the music group. Ophelia Rising after that went in to the studio room with famous punk maker Geza X (Deceased Kennedys, Dark Flag) and documented their debut EP, Step one 1: Acknowledge YOU HAPPEN TO BE Area of the Program, an attractive, angst-ridden record similar to early Hole which includes a sinister cover of Lesley Gore’s ’60s pop traditional “YOU DO NOT Very own Me.”
