Originally brought collectively simply by Mute founder Daniel Miller for 2011’s Mute Short Circuit Festival, the duo of Maps’ Wayne Chapman and fellow labelmate Polly Scattergood made a decision to continue their collaboration mainly because On Deceased Waves. With both performers releasing single albums in 2013 — Maps’ Vicissitude and Scattergood’s Arrows — the set finally reconvened at Chapman’s house studio to start out composing what would ultimately become their debut recording. Posting the same musical eyesight, the set drew motivation from famous brands Low, Bob Dylan, and Leonard Cohen to make a sound that could have a genuine cinematic feeling. Preceded from the singles “California,” “Blackbird,” and “Blue Inside,” the self-titled recording was released in-may, 2016.
