Hawaiian group Olomana began because the duo of Robert Beaumont and Jerry Santos in 1973, and within 3 years they had released their debut, Such as a Seabird within the Blowing wind. The album highlighted the Beaumont-penned “House” and “Ku’u House O Kahalu’u,” that was compiled by Santos. The duo, melding traditional and newer Hawaiian music, shortly continued to record a few more albums, THEREFORE WE HAVE BEEN and Come if you ask me Gently. In the first ’80s, the Hawaii Academy of Documenting Arts bestowed six of its honours, known as Na Hoku Hanohano, on Arrive to Me Carefully. The title monitor, constructed by Santos, had taken home the name of Track of the entire year. Another track, “E Ku’u Nice Lei Poina ‘Ole,” was made up by Emma Defries and received the Hawaiian vocabulary honor, the Haku Mele. Olomana grew from a two-man music group to some four-man outfit using the improvements of bass participant Wally Suenaga and drummer Willy Paikuli. Beaumont passed away in 1982, and Haunani Apoliona became a member of the group that same 12 months. Honoring the important part Beaumont played within the producing of Olomana, the group released an anthology that included a track which was penned for him, “The Lovelight within your Eye.” Santos and Apoliona also released single albums. Expecting Close friends, Santos’ 1989 launch, garnered a set of Na Hoku Hanohano awards for Modern Hawaiian Recording of the entire year and Man Vocalist of the entire year. Apoliona took house six of the honours two years previously for her single work, Na Lei Hulu Makua, Na Wahine Hawai’i. One of the honours had been Traditional Hawaiian Recording and Woman Vocalist of the entire year. In 1992, when Olomana released the recording E Mau Ana Ka Ha’aheo (Long lasting Satisfaction), three even more honours arrived the group’s method, included in this one for the year’s finest Traditional Hawaiian Recording. The band called itself following a hill of twin peaks in Maunawili on the isle of O’ahu. “Olomana” translates from Hawaiian as “aged man.”
