Ollie & the Nightingales

This Memphis group included some excellent vocalists, although they didn’t enjoy just as much success as various other Stax artists. Ollie Nightingale (given birth to Ollie Hoskins), Quincy Clifton Billops, Jr., Nelson Lesure, Expenses Davis, and Rochester Neal had been the original users. Billops have been within the Mad Lads. Their biggest solitary was “I ACQUIRED a Sure Thing” in 1968, which produced the R&B Best 20. It had been also their lone strike. Nightingale remaining in 1970 and was changed by Sir Mack Grain. Neal, Billops, and Davis became the Ovations in 1972.
