Oliver Johnson

b. 28 Oct 1892, Biloxi, Missouri, USA, d. 29 November 1954, Portland, Oregon, USA. Johnson (aka Dink), performed the piano, clarinet and drums. He discovered the piano experimenting Storyville within the years before Globe Battle I. Although he hardly ever achieved great specialized proficiency he performed within a tough and ready method with significant amounts of humour. In 1913 he visited California and became a member of the initial Creole Music group playing drums. He just remained with the music group for the year however when he still left them he continued to be in California documenting on drums along with his brother-in-law, pianist Jelly Move Morton and down the road clarinet with Child Ory. Through the 20s he led a music group known as the Five Hounds Of Jazz which became the LA Six for the residency in Chicago in 1924. He came back to California to experiment clubs and finally settled in NEVADA playing the piano in his sister’s club. Although he ceased executing within the 40s he continuing to record. (NB: Never to end up being baffled with the jazz drummer of the same name, who was simply blessed in 1944 and passed away on 7 March 2002 in Paris, France.)
