Olivelawn

San Diego’s Olivelawn gloried in brutal, sludgy SoCal punk, launching two full-length albums in the first ’90s prior to the people parted methods. The group’s muscular sound was driven by vocalist Mike Olson’s brutal delivery, the guitars of O (a.k.a. Otis Barthoulameu) as well as the rhythm portion of drummer Eddie Cup and bassist Jonny Donhowe. The short-lived device released their debut, Sap, on Nemesis Information in 1991, pursuing that using the Headhunter discharge Sophomore Jinx in 1992. The last mentioned was made by Jack port Endino (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden). The group’s sound shown a clear debts to such predecessors because the Stooges, Dark Sabbath, as well as the MC5. In retrospect, Olivelawn is essential primarily due to O’s membership. He’d go on to create Fluf, a far more effective punk combo that benefited from O’s songwriting chops and large electric guitar sound. O was a pervasive existence in the ’90s NORTH PARK picture. Besides his account in Olivelawn and Fluf, he also created records, offered as roadie for the Muffs, and was a released skateboard professional photographer, among other activities.
