The epitome of the quieter, coffee-table side of singer/songwriter electronica and trip-hop, Olive was formed by producers Tim Kellett and Robin Taylor-Firth (former members of, respectively, Simply Red and Nightmares on Wax) with vocalist Ruth-Ann Boyle. Kellett linked to Boyle while playing keyboards to get a live incarnation from the Durutti Column (he manipulated her tape-looped vocals while on-stage), and asked her to become listed on him in a fresh recording task. With Kellett composing lyrics as well as the addition of Taylor-Firth, the trio documented three tracks and found a lot of labels prepared to bid for his or her services. RCA Information received out and released “YOU ARE NOT Only” in 1995. Though it required almost annually to capture on with English audiences, the solitary eventually hit number 1 and offered half-a-million copies. America demonstrated passingly keen on the track aswell, making a house near the Best 40 for this. Their second recording, Trickle, found its way to 2000 on Maverick Information.
