Old Pike

Aged Pike were a five-man rock and roll & roll music group from Bloomington, IN, whose music was heavily influenced by Bruce Springsteen (most obviously obvious in frontman Tim Jones’ phrasing and stage existence) and fellow Hoosier John Mellencamp. Aged Pike’s origins could be traced back again to a chance conference between Jones and Broemel, who have been introduced by upcoming Aged Pike bassist Jason Brammer when all three music artists had been still in senior high school. They shaped a music group together, THE WORLD, and quickly amassed a big youthful following within the Indianapolis region while opening displays for their close friends in the music group Split Lip. They also began performing on Mon nights at the neighborhood Outback pub. Flynn began showing up at increasingly more shows, and finally around the band’s half a break up EP with Chamberlain (previously Break up Lip), which surfaced on Toledo, OH’s Doghouse Information. He quickly joined the music group full-time, and in the summertime of 1996 Aged Pike began planing a trip to NEW YORK to display for major-label documenting companies. Around once, they documented six tunes at Bloomington, IN’s Echo Recreation area Studios. The songs were published by Indiana-based label Smooth Earth Information and released like a self-titled EP that quickly became referred to as the Video Saloon EP, because of the cover shot around the record. Ben Goldman of Sony 550 required notice from the music group at the faculty Music Journal meeting in 1997. While talking about Aged Pike with vocalist/songwriter Ben Folds of Ben Folds Five — after that another Sony 550 take action — it became obvious that Folds was also a lover of the music group. In January 1998, Goldman made a decision to indication the music group after getting another efficiency at Brownie’s in NEW YORK. He was changed by powerhouse drummer Pat Spurgeon, who became a member of the music group within an unrelenting circular of nationwide touring to get the record, which, despite getting some warm testimonials, never really became popular. Some reshuffling occurred at their label, which led to Old Pike getting asked to record some demos to keep their record offer. Unsatisfied using the band’s brand-new tracks, Sony 550 made a decision to drop the music group from its roster, and Aged Pike disbanded quickly thereafter.
