Oily Rags

Shortly just before they adopted the billing Chas & Dave, Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock recorded a self-titled 1974 LP beneath the name Oily Rags. During the record, they’d been functioning mainly as songwriters and program music artists, but American manufacturer Bob Thiele was impressed more than enough with their abilities to record an record using the duo. Like Nation Pie’s self-titled 1971 LP which Hodges and Peacock acquired proved helpful, Oily Rags was intensely indebted to the task of past due-’60s/early-’70s Jerry Lee Lewis, though it had been a lot more laid-back compared to the Nation Pie record. All ten from the tracks out of this uncommon LP had been reissued in the 2007 Compact disc compilation Nation Pies, Dark Claws & Oily Rags, which also offers all the materials from Nation Pie, two 1971 monitors by Dark Claw which Peacock performed, and two 1975 Chas & Dave demos.
