Rock traditionalists Oct 31 have steadfastly turned down all obtainable subgenre distractions or dilutions from the style’s unique sonic tenets, simultaneously earning a dedicated cult subsequent and isolating themselves along the way. The music group was originally founded in Arlington, VA in 1996 by vocalist (and sometime drummer) Ruler Fowley, of Deceased popularity, guitarist Brian “Hellstorm” Williams (also associated with ChainGunn along with other underground organizations), and bassist Jim Hunter (Twisted Tower Dire, While Heaven Wept, etc.), and, over time, has also presented guitarists Kevin Lewis and Jason Tedder, drummer Dave Castillo (also of Deceased), and, for a short spell, vocalist Tony Taylor (of Twisted Tower Dire and Isen Torr). Regardless of all these staff changes, Oct 31 has created a relatively constant stream of self-employed releases like the Open fire Awaits You (1997), Visions of the finish (EP, 1998), Meet up with Thy Manufacturer (1999), Stagefright (live recording, 2003), Red Sizzling (EP, 2004), No Survivors (2005), along with a Poland-only compilation called ROCK Warlocks (2008).
