Seattle-based art rock-band Obscured by Clouds took their name from Red Floyd’s 1972 album from the same name, and their sound also shows the spacy, electronic-induced psychedelia of this era — but with contemporary sound reinforcements and technical digital improvements. William Weikart may be the human brain trust and creator from the ensemble, originally motivated when he noticed Green Floyd’s Live at Pompeii, and had taken cues in the dreamy vocals of David Gilmour and sparse musings of guitarist Gilmour and bassist Roger Waters. He in addition has been inspired by progressive performers like the Doorways, Tangerine Dream, Ruler Crimson, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, Morphine, and Soundgarden. Playing guitars, Fender Rhodes electrical piano, synthesizers, and oscillators, Weikart produced a new individualized approach to Green Floyd’s music without covering their materials, but instead wanting to expand onto it from his very own perspective. Originally with bassists Phil Baker and Ben Dark brown, and changing with additional associates Kevin Cozad on piano and synthesizers, Reinhardt Melz playing drums, Ian Wengs on bass, guitarist Matthew Bradley, and drummer Jeff Norton, Obscured by Clouds possess performed and toured in Canada aswell as on both U.S. east and western coasts. In ’09 2009, the record Psycheclectic was released on Psycheclectic Information.
