This Moldova-based Eurodance trio was founded in 1999 by Dan Balan aka Duke (b. 6 Feb 1979, Chisinau, Moldovan SSR). Balan started his musical profession because the songwriter and key pad player for the doom metal music group Inferialis, before teaming with PetruJelihovski to create O-Zone. Although they distributed achievement in Moldova with many strike singles the duo parted firm because Jelihovski stated the music group was only a hobby for him. In 2001, Balan recruited Radu S â rbu aka Picasso (b. 14 Dec 1978, Peresecina, Moldovan SSR) and Arsenie Todiras aka Arsenium (b. 22 July 1983, Chisinau, Moldovan SSR). The music group became most widely known for their substantial strike, ‘Dragostea Din Tei’, also called ‘Mai Ai Hee’ or ‘The Numa Numa Tune’. When further translated the name is ‘Appreciate FROM THE Linden Tree’, a mention of the task of Romanian poet Mihai Eminescu. Achieving #1 1 in 32 countries, the tune went on to market over 12 million copies world-wide. Extremely, over 100 performers in 12 different dialects have protected it up to now. The tune also caused an online sensation whereby American Gary Brolsma published a video of himself miming and dance to the tune before his web cam. It became perhaps one of the most seen videos ever, and resulted in Brolsma making performances on US tv shows like the Tonight Display. O-Zone’s follow-up, ‘Despre Tine’, was well received although its humble success cannot surpass ‘Dragostea Din Tei’. The associated record was also generally effective. In 2005 the music group went separate methods and concentrate on single professions. S â rbu and Todiras possess since both experienced relatively successful single careers in European countries.
