Nyles Jones

b. Robert L. Jones, 12 Oct 1924, Atlanta, Georgia, USA, d. 2 Apr 1996. At age five Jones, aka Acoustic guitar Gabriel, relocated to Winston-Salem, NEW YORK, along with his bluesman dad and started playing acoustic guitar when eight yrs . old, meeting lots of the area’s leading blues performers, including Rev. Gary Davis and Blind Young man Fuller, both of whom experienced a great impact by himself music. He remaining home at age 16 and travelled through the entire country, getting together with Lightnin’ Hopkins, who also remaining his tag on Jones’ music. In 1970 he documented in Pittsburgh for Gemini, as well as the producing album and solitary were acclaimed for his or her raw blues enthusiasm. Nevertheless, Jones became disillusioned at having less financial incentive and came back to Winston-Salem within the middle-70s, presuming the name Acoustic guitar Gabriel. He was rediscovered and documented once again in 1991, beneath the guidance of Tim Duffy.
