Nydia Rojas

Mariachi vocalist Nydia Rojas was created in Whittier, California in 1981 but was raised in Guadalajara; there she first experienced the indigenous music of north Mexico, including ranchera and folk. At age nine she started performing regularly having a mariachi group at an East LA restaurant, later learning her craft in the Mariachi Heritage Culture Program in the LA Music and Artwork School. After getting the principal vocalist using the all-female Mariachi Reyba de LA, Rojas authorized a solo agreement with Arista Latin; her self-titled debut LP was released in 1997, when she was simply 16-years-old. Si Me Conocieras adopted two years later on.
