Nuns

Formed in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, California, USA, in 1977, the Nuns had been among the city’s leading punk/new wave attractions, forerunning the rock and roll and outrage antics from the Deceased Kennedys. Their insubstantial improvement was further tied to continual line-up complications, but such frustrations coalesced to amazing effect within their ‘Savage’/‘Suicide Kid’ one. Their work made an appearance on many compilations, including Rodney FOR THE Roq and Tests In Future, but having split in 1979, they re-formed the next year to finish The Nuns, and then disband once again. Ritchie Detrick (vocals), Jeff Olener (vocals), Alejandro Escovedo (b. Alejandro Escovedo, San Antonio, Tx, USA; electric guitar), Jennifer Miro (keyboards, vocals), Mike Varney (bass) and Jeff Raphael (drums) were among those moving through the Nuns’ rates, of whom Escovedo eventually joined up with Rank And File and the real Believers, before getting into a solo profession. The Nuns re-formed once again in 1986, without Escovedo, to record a totally different record, the icy, dance-fixated Rumania. Olener and Miro resurrected the Nuns in the past due 90s, although their trashy goth rock and roll fixations right now appeared rather dated.
