Frequently credited using the creation and advancement of Shangaan electro, a frantic hybrid dance music style, Nozinja (Richard Hlungwani) is a South African talent scout, promoter, producer, musician, and DJ who’s from Gyani, Limpopo yet located in Soweto. Musicologist Wills Glasspiegel helped facilitate a link with London, England’s Honest Jon’s label, which helped the audio of Shangaan electro spread using the 2010 compilation Shangaan Electro: New Influx Dance Music from South Africa. Published by the label’s Tag Ainley with Tag Ernestus (owner of Berlin record store Hard Wax, and in addition of Basic Route), the established acknowledged Nozinja as the manufacturer of 180-BPM monitors by famous brands Tshetsha Children and Tiyiselani Vomaseve, aswell as Zinja Hlungwani, Nozinja’s little girl. It provided only small percentage of the result Nozinja was behind. Shangaan Tremble, offering remixes from leading intensifying electronic performers like Ricardo Villalobos, Anthony “Tremble” Shakir, and Celebrity, implemented in 2012. On the other hand, Nozinja produced videos, published to YouTube, that supplied outsiders with a larger understanding of associated dance designs. Warp agreed upon Nozinja, whose initial discharge for the label was the 2014 one “Tsekeleke.” He toured overseas, including schedules in England, France, Belgium, and Germany. Early 2015 one “Wa Chacha” made an appearance on Warp sublabel Bleep, in cooperation with British manufacturer Tessela. Nozinja’s full-length debut, Nozinja Lodge, finally appeared on Warp in June of 2015.
