NOW Orchestra

The NOW Orchestra was founded in 1987 by saxophonist and co-director Layer Cooke. The fifteen piece improvising ensemble is situated from the Western world Coast of THE UNITED STATES, with associates hailing from Washington and Vancouver. By the past due ’90s, the line-up included co-director and guitarist Ron Samworth, cellist Peggy Lee, drummer Dylan VanDerSchyff, and pianist Paul Plimley. Today Orchestra provides performed at celebrations including Vancouver’s du Maurier International Jazz Celebration and FIMAV, and it has collaborated with main improvisers such as for example Wadada Leo Smith, Marilyn Crispell, Lawrence “Butch” Morris, Vinny Golia and Rene Lussier.
