Noisegate

The Oakland, CA, experimental collective Noisegate was founded in 1995. Carrying out a handful of limited produces, they released their first public LP, The Towers Are Burning up, through the main one CENTURY of Solitude label in 1998, of which period their lineup contains Trevor Paglen (bass, vocals), Nicolas Lampert (electric guitar, vocals), and Chris Fitzpatrick (sampler, vocals). The sound upon this album could possibly be loosely referred to as a mixture of hardcore/grind/crust punk components and menacing ambient atmospherics. The LP was reissued on Compact disc (with two added monitors) in 1999 being a joint work between Philadelphia’s Legion and San Francisco’s tUMULt brands. Moving in a far more restrained dark ambient/drone path, their second full-length, Suspended Computer animation Ambient, Vol. 1 surfaced in 2000, also on tUMULt. An record of live shows recorded through the Suspended Computer animation Tour, entitled EVEN AS WE Were Walking, arrived a year down the road Manufracture Records.
