Noise for Pretend

Sound for Pretend appears like your normal indie pop group but noises nothing like a single. Nor perform they sound extremely loud. A Portland, OR-based trio made up of standup bassist and business lead vocalist Esperanza Spalding, guitarist and vocalist Benjamin Workman, and drummer Christian Cochran, Sound for Pretend rather takes on jazz-influenced pop noir, acquiring cues from Django Reinhardt and Astrud Gilberto a lot more frequently than Sonic Youngsters and Superchunk. They produced their documented debut on the split release using the like-minded Blanket Music in 2001 on Hush. During launch, Spalding was 16 yrs . old, belying her adult, confident, studied tone of voice and skilled bass playing. The group’s full-length debut adopted prior to the end of the entire year.
