Biography

Nikolai Lugansky is really a Russian pianist, well known for his insightful performances of Intimate music. A indigenous of Moscow, he was created to several research researchers. At age 5, he trained himself to try out a Beethoven sonata by hearing, and this resulted in acquiring lessons from his neighbor, composer and pianist Sergei Ipatov. Later on, he went to the Moscow Central Music College as well as the Moscow Conservatory, learning piano with Tatiana Kestner, Tatiana Nikolaeva, and Sergei Dorensky. A dynamic competitor, he received first prize in the All-Union Competition in Tbilisi as well as the metallic medal in the 8th International Bach Competition in Leipzig, both in 1988, and received the second reward in the Rachmaninov Competition in Moscow in 1990. Lugansky was called greatest pianist in 1992 in the International Summer time Academy Mozarteum in Salzburg. After dealing with foot and back again accidental injuries in 1993, he received the 1994 Tchaikovsky Piano Competition. Like a concerto soloist, Lugansky offers performed with Riccardo Chailly, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Valery Gergiev, Kurt Masur, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Edo de Waart, Leonard Slatkin, and several other conductors. Furthermore to his occupied concert schedule, he’s an accompanist for most music artists, including Anna Netrebko, Joshua Bell, Mischa Maisky, Yuri Bashmet, Vadim Repin, among others. Lugansky started documenting with Melodiya and Vanguard Classics, starting a fruitful documenting career over time with Warner Classics, PentaTone, Erato, Deutsche Grammophon, and Naïve.
