Ahead of collaborating, Nikki Leonti released a small number of CCM albums for the Pamplin label and toured like a backup singer for Carrie Underwood, while High Skillz produced songs for Ludacris (“Best Fulfillment”) and Eve (“Dream”). Considering that Skillz have been informed by collaborators that his function was “as well big,” not really spacious enough for his or her voices, he understood his profession was going to change a part when Leonti’s effective voice and strong attitude rather “ate it up.” Leonti and Skillz described their audio as “Alicia [Secrets] matches the Supremes while getting together with Lauryn Hill hearing OutKast’s ‘Hey Ya’ remixed by Phil Spector.” Heading from the mischievous and assured throwback audio from the duo’s preliminary material (“Kitty and Mouse,” “Next Best Thing”), which incorporated flashes of Brill Building pop and lady group soul more than a hard-hitting rhythmic punch, Hill was presumably humming some variation about “Doo Wop (That Thing)” instead of looking at the ceiling.
