Night School

California trio Night time School mix woozy, lo-fi acoustic guitar pop using the lovely summer noises of basic ’60s girl organizations, garage area, and early doo wop. Shaped in Oakland in 2013 by Alexandra Morte and Baylie Arin, both friends began operating like a duo, documenting their fuzzy debut EP, PULSE, for Georgia-based indie Graveface Information. With influences which range from Cocteau Twins towards the Shirelles, Night time School’s sound is definitely a gentle collision of dreamy textures and sunny innocence. Carousel, a break up EP with labelmates Dott, preceded Center Beat’s Oct 2014 launch, as do the appearance of bassist Cheyenne Avant to full the band’s lineup. Their full-length debut, Blush, premiered in June 2016 and added ’90s fuzz-pop shades to their blend.
