Nicky Chinn & Mike Chapman

Mike Chapman (b. 15 Apr 1947, Queensland, Australia) and Nicky Chinn (b. 16 Might 1945, London, Britain) teamed up to create a songwriting relationship while the previous was an associate of the group Tangerine Peel off and the last mentioned a garage area owner. Using the encouragement from the RAK Information boss, Mickie Many, they later constructed a string of strikes in the first 70s for such works as ” NEW WORLD “, Lovely, Gary Glitter, Dirt, Racey, Suzi Quatro and Smokie. Mike Chapman surfaced as an important power in moulding Blondie for the pop marketplace, providing creation credit on such strikes as ‘Center Of Cup’, ‘The Tide Can be Great’, ‘Weekend Young lady’, ‘Atomic’ and ‘Rapture’. Chinn and Chapman inaugurated the Dreamland label in 1979 which folded 2 yrs later. Chapman afterwards caused Pat Benatar, Exile (‘Kiss You All Over’, a US #1 1 and a Chinn/Chapman structure), Nick Gilder (‘Popular Kid In The Town’, a US #1 1), the Knack (‘My Sharona’ a US #1 1), Patti Smith and Lita Ford. During this time period the duo’s songwriting abilities gained them a US #1 1 in 1982 with ‘Mickey’ for Toni Basil.
