A versatile trumpeter with a variety, an attractive tone, and solid technical abilities, Nick Travis spent a lot of his truncated profession as a studio room musician although he was an excellent jazz improviser too. Travis found early knowledge playing skillfully from age 15. He caused Johnny McGhee, Vido Musso (1942), Mitch Ayres, and Woody Herman (on / off during 1942-1944) before portion in the armed forces. After his release, Travis used many rings including Ray McKinley (on / off during 1946-1950), Benny Goodman (1948-1949), Gene Krupa, Ina Ray Hutton, Tommy Dorsey, Tex Beneke, Woody Herman once again (1950-1951), Jerry Grey, Bob Chester, Elliot Lawrence, and Jimmy Dorsey (1952-1953).
