Nicholas Ward

Nicholas Ward is probably the more important British conductors of his era. He started his career like a violinist playing in orchestras and chamber ensembles, but ultimately used the baton and it has since focused mainly on works through the Classical and early Passionate periods, having documented entire chunks of symphonies and string functions by Haydn, Mozart, and Mendelssohn. But Ward’s repertory stretches in to the 20th hundred years and contains music by Stravinsky, Shostakovich, Berkeley, along with other composers from the period. Ward has documented extensively, the majority of his function appearing within the Naxos label. Ward was created in Manchester, Britain, in 1952. His parents had been members from the Manchester-based Hallé Orchestra.
