Nicholas Addo-Nettey

Afro-beat percussionist and singer Nicholas Addo-Nettey (aka Pax Nicholas) was perhaps most obviously as an associate of Fela Kuti’s powerhouse Africa 70 ensemble, using on almost all from the group’s seminal 1970s releases, although he also trim several rarely noticed records in his very own name. Blessed in Accra, Ghana, in 1954, he was raised performing, playing, and dance from an early on age group, and was embroiled as an adolescent in the nationwide trend for American spirit music. In 1971, after venturing towards the musical mecca of Lagos, Nigeria, he was presented to Kuti and asked to become listed on his music group as a back-up vocalist and conga participant. You start with 1972’s pivotal “Shakara,” he made an appearance on most of Kuti’s edges for another seven years. In the mean time, he documented two single albums for the Tabansi label: 1971’s Brain Your Personal Business and 1973’s Na Teef Understand de Street of Teef, documented with fellow Africa 70 music artists at Ginger Baker’s Lagos studio room (also frequently employed by Kuti). Regardless of the strength from the second option record specifically, it was efficiently buried following a furiously resentful Fela, hearing the positive response from the masses when it had been played at a celebration, allegedly informed Nicholas to never play it once again.
