Nic Armstrong & the Thieves

An Austin, Texas-based Englishman with an eclectic retro-pop palette, Nic Armstrong and his music group the Thieves set Beatlesque melodies with bluesy American trad rock and roll and vintage Kinks, Who, and Rolling Stones-inspired acoustic guitar riffage. Created in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Armstrong spent his formative years immersed in music and artwork, eventually shifting to Nottingham to help expand his research. After submitting a demonstration documenting to a countrywide talent competition arranged by the newspaper Dazed & Baffled, Armstrong arrived a recording agreement with One Small Indian, which would continue to concern his debut long-player, THE BEST Light Liar, in 2004. That same calendar year the band joined up with Paul Weller on his Western european tour, and in 2005 they produced their abroad debut at SXSW, accompanied by performances on Austin Town Limits as well as the Late Display with Craig Ferguson with Coachella. In 2006 Armstrong released If WE CAN NOT Get away My Pretty beneath the name IV Thieves via New Western world. Armstrong ultimately relocated towards the bustling music mecca of Austin, Tx, where he create shop and started documenting both solo and with the Thieves, with whom he released the EP Pocketless Top in 2013, with programs for another EP in early 2015.
