New Stories

New Tales, a Seattle-based jazz trio focusing on post-bop, was shaped in 1988. The users are pianist Marc Seales, bassist Doug Miller, and drummer John Bishop. New Tales is quite most likely the premiere jazz trio within the Pacific Northwest (earning Earshot Jazz honours for Greatest Acoustic Group 3 x), as well as the group divides their period roughly similarly between trio shows and solo tasks. Pianist Seales offers received the Earshot Jazz Golden Hearing Award for Greatest Instrumentalist in 1999 and can be a part of various additional organizations (Milo Peterson’s Jazz Disciples, Marc Seales Quartet), along with the head from the Jazz Research department in the University or college of Washington. Doug Miller comes from the Count number Basie and Mercer Ellington big rings and is among the “1st contact” bassists in Seattle. John Bishop works with approximately 40 different performers a year, in addition to instructional video clips and documentaries for PBS. As an organization, New Stories offers released three albums on Source Arts and in addition backed multiple performers, the highlight being truly a Grammy-nominated recording with vocalist Tag Murphy, Track for Geese. In 1993, New Tales became the very first American jazz group to execute in Eastern Russia, in the JVC Jazz Event in Vladivostock.
