New Mexico

Identical parts indie rock and post-punk, Brand-new Mexico shaped in NORTH PARK, California in 2008. Originally the music group was known as Apes of Wrath and released a self-titled record under that name, but following the departure of guitarist Andrew Geldmeier, the group made a decision to change its name to match a fresh, punkier path. Vocalist/guitarist Rob Kent, bassist Jake Blankhead, and drummer Dustin Elliott decided on New Mexico while at South by Southwest this year 2010, predicated on a T-shirt put on by an attendee at their display. Following EP PERHAPS YOU HAVE Met MY PAL, keyboardist Peter Graves became a member of the group for touring reasons as well as the 2013 full-length Malpais, that was documented the old-fashioned method, on analog tape.
