Los Angeles’ New Defeat Fund help to make a loose, cheeky mixture of electronic-tinged garage area rock and roll and rap. Created in 2011, the group features the skills of guitarist/lead-vocalist Jeff Laliberte, bassist Paul Laliberte, guitarist Shelby Archer, and drummer Michael Johnson. Influenced by an eclectic mix of noises from Southern California punk rings like Green Day time and Sublime, funk clothes like Red Warm Chili Peppers and Fishbone, and Western Coast rap functions like Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, New Defeat Account coined their music “G-punk.” Having a D.We.Y. aesthetic given birth to out of Laliberte’s artwork school-honed abilities and Archer’s audio-engineering history, the group in the beginning gained attention for his or her self-produced music video clips for tunes like “Scare Me,” which proceeded to go viral in 2012. In 2015, New Defeat Account released their debut full-length recording, Sponge Fingerz, and became a member of the lineup from the Vans Warped Tour.
