Among Brazil’s most influential drummers/percussionists, Nene offers participated in a number of projects. Furthermore to leading his personal group, Nene offers collaborated with jazz music artists from around the world. An associate of Hermeto Pascoal’s music group from 1978 to 1980 and Egberto Gismonti’s music group in 1980, Nene offers performed and/or documented with an extended list of performers, including Milton Nascimento, Cesar Camargo Mariano, Elis Regina, Edu Lobo, Claude Nougaro, Charlie Haden, Bob Moses, Steve Lacy, and Richard Galiano. His publication, Brazilian Rhythms, released by Zurfluh Editions in Paris in 1988, continues to be the authoritative resource about them. A native from the southern Brazilian town of Porto Alegre, Nene demonstrated musical skill at an extremely early age. Although he started playing the accordion at age 12, he quickly turned his focus on the drums. By his 15th birthday, he previously released his musical profession. Within four years, he previously advanced to an area in Pascoal’s music group. After carrying on his apprenticeship with Gismonti, Nenes created his own music group in 1980, liberating his debut recording, Bugre, 2 yrs later.
