Negrocan

Andres Lafone (b. 14 March 1954, Montevideo, Uruguay; bass/vocals), Liliana Chachian (b. 18 Apr 1964, São Paulo, Brazil; vocals), Davide Giovaninni (b. 19 Might 1968, Trieste, Italy; drums/vocals), Neil Angilly (b. 28 Apr 1967, Redruth, Cornwall, Britain; keyboards) and Carlos Fuentes (b. 13 Dec 1955, Chile; percussion). Shaped in London in 1991 by Lafone, Negrocan blended Uruguay’s ‘candombe’ tempo with Brazilian, funk and jazz affects. Popular for the UK’s Latin and jazz dance moments (their debut, Medio Mundo, premiered on salsa DJ Gerry Lyseight’s Deep South label), in addition they appeared at celebrations throughout Europe.
