Neal Pollack

Neal Pollack has claimed to become the best living American article writer, author of a lot more than 50 books, and champion of each literary prize, but even more accurately, he’s a biting satirist pulling the leg from the reading open public. In his publication the Neal Pollack Anthology of American Books, he recounts his ventures across six years, seven continents and 10 wives and parodies the masculine heroics of such literary giants as Norman Mailer and Ernest Hemingway. (Not really a bad job application for a guy who had in fact been working being a Chicago journalist before popularity knocked on the entranceway.) The Anthology was the initial discharge from McSweeney’s Books, a posting home founded by Dave Eggers, a fellow wisecracking literary sensation. (Actually, readers initially idea that Pollack was an alias for Eggers himself.) Pollack also released a spoken phrase recording of the task, made by John Langford (the Mekons) and supported by such alt-country musical performers as the Pine Valley Cosmonauts, Kelly Hogan and Sally Timms, amongst others. The effort premiered on Bloodshot Information in 2002 and satirized Harry Smith’s Anthology of American Folk Music. The record purportedly arose from a drunken encounter between Pollack and Langford on the trans-contintental air travel in the middle-’90s. Pollack in addition has embarked by himself “globe tour 2002,” an escapade that noticed him executing clad only within a towel within a Toronto bookstore and reading to supporters within a Philadelphia subway place men’s area. For his following novel, which centered on the underground rock and roll scene, Pollack thought we would create his personal soundtrack recording, and in cooperation with vocalist/songwriter Jim Move he created The Neal Pollack Invasion, producing a sloppy but influenced collection of rock and roll parodies, Never Brain The Pollacks.
