Natural Snow Buildings

Natural Snow Structures are an experimental psych-folk duo from France, comprising Mehdi Ameziane and Solange Gularte. Their music includes extended raga-influenced drones produced by levels of greatly distorted guitars, acoustic devices (especially woodwind and percussion), and chanted vocals, leading to an intoxicating, frequently mind-boggling mass of hypnotic audio. After conference at a Paris university or college in 1997, the duo started making music collectively, and began self-releasing cassettes in 1999. French label hinah released the duo’s 2002 cassette Ghost People like a CD-R, and following that NSB began liberating their materials as limited handcrafted CD-Rs, creating a cult pursuing among the psych-folk underground. In 2007, Gularte started releasing solo materials as Isengrind, while Ameziane utilized the name Twinsistermoon for his single work. The entire year 2008 noticed the release of several NSB CD-Rs and cassettes on American brands Digitalis and Learners of Decay, the last mentioned which also released The Snowbringer Cult, an ambitious dual Compact disc including solo aswell as collaborative materials by Ameziane and Gularte. The label also reissued NSB’s 2006 dual CD-R The Dance from the Moon and sunlight. Another sprawling dual Compact disc, Shadow Kingdom, made an appearance on U.K. label Blackest Rainbow in ’09 2009. The label released two even more NSB albums, Waves from the Random Ocean and Chants of Niflheim, in 2011. American label Ba Da Bing! started launching NSB’s music in 2012, you start with Compact disc and vinyl fabric reissues of their 2008 triple CD-R Evening Coercion in to the Business of Witches, accompanied by reissues from the Snowbringer Cult (that was also provided a first-time vinyl fabric reissue, as both a four-LP container set aswell as individual problems of both solo discs as well as the collaborative dual LP) and this year’s 2009 box established Girl of Darkness, previously just on cassette. Following duo’s self-released 2014 CD-R THE NIGHT TIME Country, Organic Snow Buildings came back to Ba Da Bing! in 2015 using the discharge of Terror’s Horns, their most concise, concentrated album to day.
