Natalie Hall

b. 23 Sept 1904, Providence, Rhode Isle, USA, d. 4 March 1994, Edgecomb, Maine, USA. Hall produced her initial appearance on Broadway in Three GIRLS (1930), which acquired music and lyrics mainly by Walter Kollo and Harry B. Smith. Among the music sung by Hall had been a trio with Margaret Adams and Charles Hedley, ‘Appreciate’s Happy Wish’, a duet with Adams, ‘Wish On (Small Sister)’, music by Maurice Rubens, two duets with Hedley, ‘The Notice Melody’ and ‘Appreciate’s Happy Wish’, and another duet with Adams, ‘Appreciate Comes Once IN THE Life time’, music by Harold Stern, lyrics by Stella Unger. Hall was after that in Music In The Surroundings (1932), music by Jerome Kern, reserve and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, which went for 342 shows on the Alvin and 44th Road Theatres. Among the present’s most well-known music were ‘I’ve Informed Ev’ry Little Superstar’ and ‘The Melody Is normally You’. In Dec 1934 Hall opened up in Rudolf Friml’s Music Hath Charms, which ran for just 29 shows. In January 1937, she is at William Shakespeare’s Othello, starring Walter Huston as Othello, Brian Aherne as Iago and Nan Sunderland as Desdemona. In 1938 Hall made an appearance in Knights Of Melody, staged between 17-29 Oct, which presented an array of music by Arthur Sullivan and W.S. Gilbert including ‘The Moon And I’ and ‘The Blooms That Bloom In The Springtime’, ‘Band The Merry Bells’, ‘Merry Teen Center’, and ‘non-e Shall Component Us’. Hall also seen London, Britain in the middle-30s, showing up on radio within a version from the Lilac Domino that was sent on 4 Apr 1934. With music by Charles Cuvillièr, libretto by Harry B. Smith and Robert B. Smith, the present also starred Harry Welchman, Webster Booth, Alfred Wellesley, Abraham Sofaer, Barbara Couper, using the BBC Theater Orchestra executed by Stanford Robinson. On 22 Might 1934, Puritan Lullaby was broadcast. With music by Kenneth Leslie-Smith, reserve and lyrics by Adam Dyrenforth, the display also highlighted Booth, George Baker, Renée de Vaux, Vivienne Chatterton and Peter Penrose. This present was re-transmitted on 24 Sept 1935 and 5 Oct 1935. Hall also made an appearance within a film, Tropical Difficulty (1936), and produced a small number of recordings, including ‘Amazing Eye’. (NB: A singer called Natalie Hall made an appearance as Louisa von Trapp in the 1998 Broadway revival from the Audio Of Music. In the united kingdom, a similarly called singer was an effective contestant on tv’s Popstars in 2005 when she was aged 15.)
