Nat Pierce & His Orchestra

b. 16 July 1925, Somerville, Massachusetts, USA, d. 10 June 1992, LA, California, USA. After learning and playing in regional rings in his house state, Pierce caused a small number of name rings, including Larry Clinton’s, after that briefly led his personal music group in 1949-51, instigating what’s commonly considered among fellow music artists being the delivery of the so-called ‘rehearsal music group’ idea. In 1951 he became a member of Woody Herman, in whose music group he performed piano, organized, and acted as straw manager until 1955. Thereafter, he organized for several rings and performers, including Count number Basie and Ella Fitzgerald. In great demand like a program musician, he produced countless record times, which he used almost everyone who was simply anyone in the top echelons of jazz. In 1957 he made an appearance in the tv screen programme The Audio Of Jazz, which he was in charge of many of the plans, including the traditional overall performance of ‘Dickie’s Desire’ that presented Basie, Roy Eldridge, Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster, Joe Newman, Vic Dickenson and Gerry Mulligan among numerous others. In the past due 50s he led a music group that included Buck Clayton which experienced the dubious honour to be the last music group to try out at Harlem’s ‘House of Happy Ft’, the Savoy Ballroom, before it shut permanently. This music group, which became referred to as Juggernaut, continuing to try out through the 80s and on in to the 90s. Pierce also continuing to create for other music artists and to show up on record schedules. He toured thoroughly, appearing in the united kingdom and European countries with many Basie-alumni rings and various other concert packages.
