Nancy King

An adventurous singer with an interesting love of life, Nancy King exercises and extends the bebop custom. After senior high school, she proved helpful in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA with Pharoah Sanders, Pony Poindexter, and a number of regional players. Resettling within the Pacific Northwest, the underrated vocalist has already established an underground popularity among jazz performers. Ruler released her initial record, Impending Bloom, in 1991, adopted five years later on by DIRECTLY INTO Your Center. She also documented two live times, Moon Ray and Live at Jazz Regular, with pianist Fred Hersch; the latter was nominated for Greatest Jazz Vocal Recording in 2006.
