Mystic Merlin

The very first lineup of sophisticated funk/soul band Mystic Merlin featured Jerry Anderson (guitar), Betty Dark brown (vocals), Clyde Bullard (bass), Leslie Dorsey (keyboards, vocals), Keith Gonzalez (vocals), Sly Randolph (drums), and Barry Strutt (saxophone, keyboards). The music group, known for flashy stage shows that incorporated numerous functions of magic, released three albums for Capitol from 1980 through 1982: Mystic Merlin (led from the U.K. Best 20 one “CANNOT OFFER YOU Up”), Sixty Thrills one minute, and Total Moon (offering vocals from a pre-stardom Freddie Jackson). In 2012, all three albums had been remastered and extended with the U.K.’s BBR label.
