Mystic Chords of Memory

Beachwood Sparks amicably parted methods in 2002, of which stage Christopher Gunst and his new partner, former Aislers Place member Jen Cohen, moved to Santa Cruz. Gunst was signed up for grad school, schooling to become special education instructor, but he continuing doodling around on his guitars and keyboards when he wasn’t in the class. Cohen would pitch in, and their casual jams quickly converted into significant writing sessions. Tough Trade contacted Gunst at this time, seemingly out of nowhere, and provided him an archive deal. Gunst recognized, and he and Cohen released their initial record as the Mystic Chords of Storage in 2004. Gunst developed the band’s name after going to Support Rushmore. “I noticed the estimate etched under Lincoln’s encounter at Support Rushmore,” he stated. “I really like it, alluding to the proven fact that music is similar to a storage, a fantasy, or possibly something real. I believe most of the music I make originates from some imaginary globe.” This certainly appeared true on the self-titled debut, that was made up of dreamy, psychedelic folk music that sounded just like Tracks of Green Pheasant. Gunst and Cohen released their sophomore work, a reverb-heavy, drowsy affair known as Tree Colored Discover, in 2006.
