This intriguing early-’70s Southern Californian group featured the talents of singer/songwriter Merrell Fankhauser (who was simply also on the helm of cult classics in the ’60s by Fapardokly and HMS Bounty) and Jeff Cotton, previously slide guitarist with Captain Beefheart. Their lone record (from 1971) is normally a gem from the past due hippie era, merging the fractured blues-based tangents of Beefheart using the loose stream and stoned lyricism of rings like the past due-’60s Grateful Deceased. After a few even more singles, Mu transferred to Maui and trim a fair quantity of unreleased materials before splitting up around 1974. Their eponymous record, and a large amount of their unreleased materials, was reissued in the ’80s.
