Brooklyn-based ambient/experimental rock duo Mountains shaped in Chicago round the talents of Brendon Anderegg and Koen Holtkamp. Close friends since middle college, the set founded their personal label in 1999 while going to the school in the Artwork Institute of Chicago. Apestaartje became a car for both collaborations and specific projects, and finally live show. Mountains documented two albums of experimental ambient music for the label that drew evaluations to Fennesz, Brian Eno, and Popol Vuh before relocating to NEW YORK in 2008 to record the follow-up. The producing Choral, an ethereal cross of digital and acoustic instrumentation documented instantly with a little couple of overdubs premiered within the Thrill Jockey label in ’09 2009. For his or her follow-up, the duo extended their sonic palette by going right into a proper studio room to record this year 2010. The effect was Air flow Museum, that was released in 2011 on Thrill Jockey. Tending from the tendency towards hyper-prolific launch schedules that was essential amongst their peers, Mountains required their amount of time in sculpting their 2013 full-length Centralia, getting close to the dense music layer by level and refining them over many a few months.
