Moses Mayfield

Moses Mayfield is a music group, not a single work: specifically, they’re a quintet from Birmingham, AL, led by vocalist/songwriter Matthew Mayfield. Primarily inspired by a contact with the video for Weapons N’ Roses’ epic “November Rainfall,” and afterwards acquiring musical cues from performers which range from Coldplay and Peter Gabriel to Pearl Jam and Rock Temple Pilots, Mayfield shaped Moses Mayfield in 2002 with guitarist Will Mason, keyboardist Matt Taylor, bassist Hans Ford, and drummer Will Drake. As the five people went to Birmingham Southern University, Moses Mayfield toured the Southern college or university and jam music group circuit. A 2003 EP, Unified, and a 2004 record, Enough to RELEASE, had been self-released and marketed for the band’s significantly regular live gigs. A self-financed live Dvd movie documented at a hometown present before a big and responsive group, sent to reserving agents hoping of growing their touring bottom, was noticed by an A&R professional at Sony BMG, who agreed upon Moses Mayfield to Columbia in 2007. After a waters-testing live EP, Moses Mayfield’s major-label debut, THE WITHIN, premiered in the springtime of 2007.
