Moses Kabulie

b. 1954, Senegal. Kabulie’s dad was a favorite village singer. Been trained in woodcraft, he embarked on the musical apprenticeship in the relatively late age group of 21 after watching visiting music artists at an area event. As he later on informed a journalist, ‘My dad was disappointed that it had been not him only who produced me want to become musician. But I discovered a good deal from viewing him and I’ve mixed this with contemporary styles to create what I contact the ‘older and fresh’ sound of Kabulie.’ His 1st solitary, ‘Asayi’, was a moderate local hit and finally led to some cassettes documented in the cheaper regional studios.
