Mort Dixon

Biography

American pop lyricist Mort Dixon scored several musicals for Broadway and Hollywood, but mostly wrote songs which were 3rd party hits through the 1920s and ’30s. Delivered in N.Con.C. in 1892, Dixon began in present business as an professional in vaudeville. After his WWI armed forces service, Dixon aimed a present in France known as Whiz Bang, and some years later started songwriting. The near future person in the Songwriters Hall of Popularity got popular with his initial released try, 1923’s “That Aged Gang of Mine.” A few of Dixon’s additional strikes are “Bye Bye Blackbird,” “I’m OVERLOOKING a Four Leaf Clover,” “You’re My Everything,” “THE GIRL in Crimson,” and “Happiness Forward.” He also published tunes for musicals, like the 1930 stage creation Nice and Low and films Flirtation Walk (1934), Nice Music, and We’re in the amount of money (1935). Dixon frequently collaborated with Ray Henderson, Allie Wrubel, Harry Warren, Harry Woods, and lyricist Billy Rose.
