Recording and executing beneath the name MØRK, Norwegian pianist/composer Benjamin Mørk combined minimalist jazz with electronic, rock and roll, and classical designs within a melodic cross types. Raised over the isle of Senja in North Norway, he relocated to Tromsø where in 2012 he produced the original lineup of MØRK. Citing affects that ranged from jazz performers like fellow countryman Nils Petter Molvær and Swedish pianist Esbjörn Svensson to German digital pioneers Kraftwerk and Americana music, he released his debut record, Karasho, in 2013. While Karasho highlighted a typical piano trio set-up, MØRK’s 2015 follow-up, Meantime Life time, was largely even more experimental, with large electronic textures.
