Monte Croft

A fantastic vibraphonist who also needs R&Bish vocals, Monte Croft had an excellent Columbia launch in 1989 and a far more commercial follow-up the next yr but has taken care of a reasonably low profile since. When he was ten, he was presented with a drum arranged for Xmas and immediately began practicing. Croft turned to vibes when he was 14 and, although he mainly paid attention to R&B and spirit, he also was thinking about jazz. Croft began going to the Berklee College of Music in 1979 and obtained encounter playing in regional night clubs. In 1983 he shifted to NY and had the chance to try out with Branford Marsalis, the Terence Blanchard-Donald Harrison group, Wayne Spaulding, while others before developing his personal group and producing his Columbia albums.
