Christian Savill and Sean Hewson, a London-based indie rock duo, have already been playing together in various brands since 1989, including a short stint because the Eternal, a band that released a unitary in the Sarah label. Savill, who was simply also in Slowdive, made a decision to begin playing once again with Hewson in 2000 as Monster Film, probably naming themselves following the Can record of the same name. Since debuting in 2001 using a five-track EP on Clairecords, they’ve released a small number of EPs and albums, including YESTERDAY EVENING Something Occurred (2001), a divide EP with Dreamend (2002), Transistor (2004), Towards the Moon (2004), All Shed (2006), and MANY PEOPLE ARE a Ghost (2010). Their recordings possess drifted between neo-shoegaze, straight-up indie pop, and synth-driven materials inspired with the Stock label’s dance-oriented sect (Section 25, New Purchase). When Slowdive reunited in 2014, it motivated the duo to create an actual music group, therefore they drafted in Surroundings Formation’s Adam Harrison on drums and Slowdive’s Nick Chaplin on bass. They strike the studio room with longtime manufacturer Ryan Graveface and surfaced in 2017 with Keep carefully the Voices Distant, their biggest-sounding record up to now.
