Monk & Canatella

Bedsit trip-hop duo Monk & Canatella were shaped by Simon Russell and Jim Johnston after every had always been mixed up in Bristol community (scene-leaders Portishead even dedicated a tune to them). They debuted on Glass of Tea Information with 1995’s Journey Angling EP, which collected good reviews in the British isles music weeklies and radio DJs. The EP and its own follow-up “I COULD Water My Plant life” had been early investigations in to the even more domestic, indie-rock aspect of trip-hop. After obtaining an American discharge via Glass of Tea: A Compilation on Quango, Monk & Canatella released their debut record, Care locally.
